Chicken Swim for Children's Hospital
Cancelled 2021 Polar Bear Swim Attempts Donation Recoup at Annual Chicken Swim
2021 was not a good winter to consider a Polar Bear Swim. Normally the Silver Creek Polar Bear Swim takes place the second Sunday in January. With all of the Covid restrictions in place, it was not a good time to think big crowds. One of the main charities to suffer from this event being cancelled is the Children’s Hospital Foundation. Here is a chance to hopefully regain some momentum that was started 20 years ago.
We welcome seasoned “Polar Bears” and also those not as brave to participate in a winter swim – the “Chicken Swim”. On August 26, 2021, a group-swim for Charity takes place at Cabana Sam’s in Sunset Bay. This year the goal is to purchase a Beltless Monitor for the Oshei Children’s Hospital of Buffalo’s Mother Baby Unit at a cost of $8400.
Swimmers generate pledges for a jump in Lake Erie in August instead of January. A minimum pledge of $15 is required to participate. Registration begins at 5pm with the swim promptly at 6:30pm. Event includes extended Happy Hour (2 For 1 Drinks) from 4-9pm plus music by the Tom Bender from 7-11pm. Prizes will be awarded for Best Dressed Swimmer and the Swimmer Generating the Most Pledges.
We welcome any and all age swimmers to join the fun.
