Celebrate Barktoberfest at Sportsmen’s Tavern and Help Animals in Need
(October 3, 2018, Buffalo, New York) Looking for something fun to do on a Monday night? How about listening to some live music, in a great venue, and help animals at the same time? On Monday, October 22nd Ellicott Small Animal Hospital along with the West Side Pet Clinic will present their 3rd annual Barktoberfest, a benefit for The Pet Emergency Fund. It will be held at the iconic Sportsmen’s Tavern 326 Amherst Street in Buffalo from 6:00-9:00 p.m. and features three fantastic local music acts who have graciously donated their time and talents to play at this event!
The night kicks off with Middlemen. This acoustic duo based in Buffalo got its start in 2013 when Tom Maynor and Dan Nolan, two middle school teachers decided to perform on a regular basis throughout Buffalo and Western New York. While the band started off covering songs by The Rolling Stones, The Beatles, Tom Petty and others, their current set list features mostly original material. Their songs are best described as folk-rock with strong harmonies. Middlemen have performed at a variety of area venues with popular local acts such as Bobby Angel, Copper & Gin and Workingman’s Dead.
Middlemen will be followed by Davey O. Equal parts songwriter and storyteller, Davey O. has been recognized on a national level for his past two CD releases with multiple honors among the “best of” lists of several Folk & Roots radio stations. John Apice, of the roots music publication “No Depression” had this to say, “One of these artists who takes a modicum of musical coal and squeezes it hard enough to produce some diamonds is the acclaimed singer-songwriter Davey O. His new ten-song collection “…a bright horizon line,” is a continuation of this concise singer-songwriter’s testament of absorbing story songs.”
Rounding out this great line-up is Black Rock Zydeco. A form of Cajun/Creole dance music from Louisiana, Zydeco incorporates influences like the blues, rock, jazz, and country. Zydeco can be fast or slow, but above all, Zydeco music is about the spirit of community and celebration –an invitation to everyone to get out on the dance floor and dance to the music. Black Rock Zydeco delivers a mix of stand-out original songs and Cajun/Creole favorites from classic and contemporary performers. Vocal harmonies, inventive arrangements, and an energetic stage presence all come together for a musical experience that gets crowds moving!
To add to the festivities event attendees can try their luck in a theme basket raffle, a 50/50 split, and a special drawing for an Apple Watch! A great evening of music and fun for a $10.00 donation!
