Saturday, March 9, 2019, 4:00 AM

The winner of the Pulitzer Prize for Drama, the Tony Award for Best Play, and the Drama Desk Award for Outstanding Play, Angels in America - Part I: Millennium Approaches is a multifaceted examination of AIDS and homosexuality in 1980s United States. The play focuses on the stories of two troubled couples, one gay, one straight: Louis Ironson and his lover Prior Walter, and Mormon lawyer Joe Pitt and his wife Harper, all living in New York City. Hailed as "...the most thrilling American play in years," by the New York Times, Angels in America garnered much praise upon its release for its dialogue and exploration of social issues. Almost a decade later, Metro Weekly labeled it "one of the most important pieces of theater to come out of the late 20th century."
